MEGHALAYA
ITINEARY
Day 1 – Arrival in Shillong
Your journey begins with arrival at Guwahati Airport in Assam. From there, you’ll take a scenic 3-hour drive to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. On the way, stop at Umiam Lake, a large and peaceful reservoir perfect for photos or boating. After checking into your hotel in Shillong, visit Elephant Falls, a picturesque three-tiered waterfall, and enjoy panoramic views from Shillong Peak.
Day 2 – Explore Cherrapunji (Sohra)
Start early and drive to Cherrapunji, one of the wettest places on Earth. The journey takes around 2 hours and is filled with lush greenery and misty hills. Visit the majestic Nohkalikai Falls, India’s tallest plunge waterfall. Continue to Seven Sisters Falls and Eco Park, which offers sweeping views of the surrounding valley and distant plains of Bangladesh.

Day 3 – Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek
This day is dedicated to one of Meghalaya’s most iconic experiences — the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat village. Start your trek early from the base village, Tyrna, and prepare for a challenging descent of around 3,000 steps. The route takes you through dense forest, hanging bridges, and local villages. Once you reach the root bridge, you’ll witness an incredible man-made structure formed naturally over centuries. After spending time at the bridge (and possibly the nearby natural pools), trek back to the starting point and return to Cherrapunji or Shillong to rest.
Day 4 – Mawlynnong and Dawki
On this day, head towards Mawlynnong, often called the cleanest village in Asia. Walk through its neat lanes, admire bamboo houses, and climb the Sky Viewpoint for views over Bangladesh. After lunch, proceed to Dawki, known for the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River. Enjoy a peaceful boat ride where the river is so clear it feels like you’re floating on air. Return to Shillong in the evening, with a stop at scenic viewpoints along the way.
Day 5 – Departure from Shillong
Spend your final morning relaxing in Shillong. If time allows, visit the Don Bosco Museum, which gives insight into the culture of Northeast India. After breakfast or early lunch, drive back to Guwahati Airport for your departure, carrying memories of waterfalls, bridges, caves, and beautiful Khasi villages.
